Arizona Power Authority Scholarship

The State of Arizona Power Authority is a government agency dedicated to distributing Hoover Dam energy to different agencies in the state of Arizona. The award is a $2,500 ($1,250 per Spring/Fall semester) scholarship to an undergraduate student who may wish to study and become part of the power and energy field.

An eligible nominee must be an undergraduate student majoring in mathematics and statistics, chemistry and biochemistry, geological sciences, or physics. The student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours) during the semester in which they receive the scholarship. As the award is based primarily on merit, the nominee must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must participate in undergraduate research with a faculty member. Preference is given to students who are United States Citizens, who demonstrate financial need and leadership ability, and who have some interest in studying and becoming a part of the power and energy field.

The 2008 award winner has already been selected. Applications for the 2009 award may be submitted in December 2008.

Application must be RECEIVED by 5:00 p.m. on the day it is due, and include:

  • General Application APPLY NOW!
  • Transcripts of all relevant work (unofficial copies are acceptable)
  • A brief statement, explaining why you should be considered for this scholarship - include any career plans.
  • A letter from a research supervisor confirming participation in research project

Applications (and required materials and letters) received after the above date will not be considered, and a new application must be made for a later year.
