This award was established by Richard and Jacqueline Jacob in the names of their sons, John S. Jacob
and Richard E. Jacob, who are both ASU and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences alumni. John earned his B.S. in physics in 1988,
and Richard earned his B.S. in physics in 1997. They benefited significantly from their research experiences as undergraduates.
Each received a department award as a senior, and each was elected to Sigma Pi Sigma. Jacqueline Jacob is also an ASU
alumna, and Professor Emeritus Richard Jacob joined the Department of Physics in 1963 and served as its Chair 1985-1990.

research credit, or as a paid employee under the supervisor’s grant. The award recipient shall have contributed
